British Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a new policy that will require large companies in the U.K. to annually disclose what steps they are taking to identify and eliminate child labor and trafficking from their international supply chains. Speaking ahead of his visit to Vietnam, the first ever by a sitting British Prime Minister, Cameron said that the requirement would apply to companies with annual revenues greater than US$56.3 million and that the government may even seize the assets of offending companies to compensate the victims of trafficking and slavery. Kevin Hyland, the U.K.’s first anti-slavery commissioner, is also slated to visit the country later this year to find new ways to crack down on the practice. (International Business Times)
