The Ministry of Labor in Myanmar has given its approval to the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM) marking the first time that a nationwide labor organization has received official government recognition. The designation will allow the CTUM to campaign more widely for labor rights and give them greater access to government officials. CTUM is one of the largest labor organizations in the country.
