Ethiopia’s first denim mill, which is also being touted as one of the world’s most sustainable, is now open for business. Kanoria African Textiles, a subsidiary of India’s Kanoria Chemicals & Industries, will support hundreds of jobs, mainly for native Ethiopians, and is just one of over 570 Ethiopian projects currently in the works from Indian investors. The facility will initially export to the U.S. but talks are underway to open additional markets in Europe. (Business Standard)
