Uganda could soon turn from a net cotton exporter to an importer, according to some analysts. Industry insiders say that the country’s cotton production capacity has decreased in recent years while demand among the country’s textile companies has increased. They also say that cotton growing has become expensive and cumbersome to many of the country’s farmers, driving them to other crops like sunflowers and rice. (Fibre2Fashion)
