The head of Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Textiles has expressed public concern over the state of the country’s struggling textile industry and is pushing the government to take “pragmatic measures” to help turn it around. In a statement, Chairman Mohsin Aziz noted that the fact that membership in Europe’s GSP+ (Generalized System of Preferences) program has not resulted in a significant growth in exports should be immediate cause for concern and that government leaders should take immediate steps to relieve what is seen as a high cost of doing business in the country.
