Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry says that it will do whatever it can to protect the country from any harmful effects of the pending Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) global trade agreement. Government leaders admit that the agreement would give significant trade advantages to many of Sri Lanka’s competitors, most notably in Southeast Asia, and that they are studying potential mechanisms to help keep the country competitive globally.
