A new study from Stockholm University says that most of the world’s clothes contain some amount of chemicals and that not even washing can get rid of them completely. The study looked at 60 garments purchased from both Swedish and international retailers and found that in many cases, the items contained substances that were not on the manufacturers’ chemical list. The group says that many of these items acquire the substances during transport and even from trace amounts found in municipal water supplies used for washing.
