The United Arab Emirates has opted to use the metric system instead of the U.S. customary system for its textile trade. The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) says that the move is aimed at further unifying all measurements across the state, which uses the metric system for most other measurements, and is asking all textile suppliers and merchants to begin expressing their measurements in the metric system immediately.
