The World Bank says that Vietnam’s government needs to focus on bolstering its private sector logistics, including freight transportation, to accommodate changes in its growing economy. A new report issued by the bank says that “systemic engagement” by the government with private logistics providers can greatly boost trade competitiveness and that these very providers are best equipped to inform public decisions about their direction. Police in Ho Chi Minh City say they have arrested 4 people accused of stealing Nike shoes from a factory they worked in. Authorities say the leaders of the gang persuaded several other workers to help smuggle shoes and footwear components out of the factory and hide them in the suspects’ homes. Police say they are working to identify all workers connected with the scheme. (Than Nien News)
